Maddy the Cat

I am really enjoying these papermate two color pencils. It reminds me of the three color (french style) portraits Art Rosenbaum used to demonstrate. This is a portrait a friend's cat. My process is this:

a) layout the basic shape and direction of lines with a blue non photo pencil (in a notebook)
b) use a two color pencil (red and blue) to hit up the shadows and main colors, using the white of the paper as the highlight.
c) add halftone shadows and details with a solution of half water half india ink
d) add darkest darks with pure black india ink
e) manipulate and add colors in photoshop.
